So in this new 'personal' blog vein: I hate shaving.
I really do. I live in San Francisco where most days of the year it's too foggy and windy and cold to even contemplate wearing a tank top or shorts or a skirt.
But now and again, every ever-so-delicate now and rare again, the clammy blustery mists part... and a brief window of sunshine breaks through to the Richmond District, and it is then, when I am singing the happy sunshine song and reaching for my sad and lonely collection of tank tops that I have not worn since I moved out of Southern California, or for a soft pink skirt, that I have to recall whether I've shaved in the last day or two. Most often the answer is no, because really, why do what you don't have to when most days you're wrapped up in multiple layers of fleece and scarves? Then I swear loudly and have to don jeans and a sleeved shirt for yet another of the maybe 10 incredibly precious days of pretty weather we get a year in this city.
People tend to look at my legs when I wear shorts or a skirt, not because they're particularly attractive or shapely, but because they're unusually wide and muscled for my height/body size. So even though I don't have a lot of shin hair, it's black and somewhat noticeable, especially when people are staring at your calves/thighs and then asking you respectfully what on earth it is that you do.
Enter the "clean + easy" home electrolysis system. Screw this shaving and plucking business, I plan to go scorched earth on my skins and underarms by frying the hair follicles out of existence. The most negative reviews I've read about the product is that it's painful, but as I took a sword to the face last week, I'm feeling up to the challenge.
It's due to arrive today. I'm so excited. If it works, I'm recommending this to my brother and father, who also hate shaving.

I hate shaving too, but yet growing out my facial hair is *so* not an option :(
