Saw the sneak preview of Charlie Bartlett yesterday, courtesy of Rick.
I liked it. It's cute and funny, clever in places, and the lead actor, Anton Yelchin, is incredibly talented. He looked like he had a blast making the movie. I'm torn between giving him respectful kudos and ruffling his hair and giving him a big hug.
I still don't get the seething with generic teenage angst, though. I was the oddball in high school that didn't notice the social cliques, if we had any. Aside from the usual crippling lack of self-confidence, I had a good time in high school.
While the teenage movie stereotypes are present, at least the characters are portrayed as genuine and the young actors are all likable.

Whaat? Teenage cliques don't actually exist, that only exists in the movies.
Neither does 'teenage angst' Teenage stereotypes are just 'this is how I see the world. Yes, its stereotypical. Do I care? No.' <-This is just to follow along with the 'I am full of angst' bit.
Duhh!
