Memory's fragile shell

I briefly had a pistachio shell collection when I was young.

I'd never seen the ocean, but I'd read in all of these books about kids having shell collections, and I wanted one too.

My parents corrected me, but even now when I eat pistachios sometimes I get the urge to polish the shells up and put them in my pocket.

Things like this are what make you entirely too edearing to me. But then I was always the kid with too much stuff in his pockets.
